WHY THESE PRODUCTS?

Underground detention and it’s flexibility is often misunderstood. At Construction EcoServices, we focus on the result, not the product we are trying to sell you. If your result is to eliminate a detention pond in order to increase your density, we look at every possible option to accomplish this. While we do represent two nationally leading underground detention systems, our options are not limited to just that. We also look at multifuctional design approaches such as permeable pavements and bioretention systems to gain additional storage volume at little to no added costs, lowering the total cost of the solution.

R-Tank

Modular Detention Systems

Why Do We Recommend This Product?

“As a designer, I am looking for versatile solutions to solve many problems. R-Tank is that solution, especially for urban redevelopment, areas with high density and campus projects where space is limited and you never know what might be underground. The R-Tank’s modular flexibility gives me ample design flexibility, and gives our field crews the ability to make incremental adjustments in the field without any construction delays. The system is also strong, with options capable of supporting a fire truck with only 12” of cover.”

Underground Stormwater Storage

R-Tank® detention/retention and infiltration systems are among the most efficient systems available to provide underground storage for stormwater runoff. After a rain event fills the R-Tank®, stormwater can be routed to the drainage system, infiltrate into the ground, or be recycled for rainwater harvesting. The R-Tank® system provides an alternative to stormwater basins and is a highly effective, space saving alternative to other underground systems.

Why Do You NEED Modular Versatility?

Smaller Construction Footprint

  • The R-Tank is an open, 95% void system that encourages infiltration.
  • Combining the 90% void R-Tank with a 40% void aggregate base can decrease the overall excavation footprint while still meeting detention requirements.
  • No header rows, no diversion weirs or any other ancillary structures are required to tie in the R-Tank system to site storm.
  • Inlet and outlet pipes can connect directly to the R-Tank system.

Design & Construction Versatility

    • The modularity of the R-Tank allows for simple footprint changes on the fly without impacting storage volumes.
    • R-Tank modules are available in multiple configurations (LD, HD, SD, XD, and UD) with heights varying from 2 inches to 7 feet.

r-tank-spec-graphic-1

  • Easily supports traffic loading from parking lots and roads with module options for HS-20 and HS-25 rating with cover depths from 6 inches to 16 feet.
  • R-Tank systems can be combined into various shapes to efficiently work around obstacles/utilities and fit to the constraints of your site.
  • Elevations of the R-Tank modules can be varied to maintain cover beneath changing grade requirements
    • Module options for HS-20 and HS-25 rating with cover depths from 6” to 16’
  • R-Tank modules are shipped flat on pallets and can be assembled and installed by hand, making for a simplified installation process.

Combining with low impact design & green infrastructure

  • Combining R-Tank with bioretention and permeable pavement systems can maximize storage capabilities.
  • The R-Tank’s square flow area spreads stormwater flows across bottom, encouraging infiltration and time of concentration while transporting runoff to a discharge point.
  • R-Tank systems wrapped with an impermeable liner are perfect for stormwater reuse and rainwater harvesting systems.

BENEFITS

  • High capacity with 95% void space
  • Modular design
  • High strength
  • Lightweight and quick to install
  • Recycled content
  • LEED Credits
  • Longer-lasting horse tracks training fields
  • Irrigate without flooding

StormChamber

Retention, Detention, Conveyance & Water Reuse

recommended-product-icon-2
Why Do We Recommend This Product?

“From my perspective, when it comes to economical underground detention solutions, the answer is simple, StormChamber. There are no header rows, no special weirs or additional infrastructure, and the install is fast and simple. The best thing is that there are no hidden costs at the end of the project.”

The Low Cost, Low Impact Development Solution For Retention, Detention, Conveyance & Water Reuse

StormChamber stormwater chambers are an efficient, effective, economical solution to underground detention and stormwater conveyance. They are easier to install than other types of chamber systems and offer a longer effective life than corrugated metal pipe. StormChamber utilizes the same basic corrugated arch shape as other chamber systems but can exceed the AASHTO H20 wheel load rating by over 4 times. In addition, StormChamber features a side-portal feed that provides greater flexibility in engineering and hydraulic design, eliminating the need for expensive header pipe systems.

No additional structures required

  • The side-portal feeds eliminate the need for header pipe systems and pipe manifolds.
  • No diversion weirs or any other ancillary structures are required to tie in the StormChamber system. Inlet and outlet pipes can connect directly to the StormChambers
  • StormChamber chambers do not require the additional end caps to purchase and install.
  • Sediment traps eliminate the need for costly pre-treatment devices and are included in every StormChamber system.

Construction Economics

  • StormChamber heights come in 34” or 44”, with a maximum cover of up to 16 feet.
  • Eliminating the need for additional structures make StormChamber systems more efficient and simpler to install.
  • StormChambers are a less costly alternative to pipe for conveyance, while adding the benefits of groundwater recharge and water quality enhancement.
  • StormChamber systems can be stacked up to four layers when depth exceeds 5 feet.
  • Compaction of the stone base/backfill is not required.

Other Considerations

  • Replicates pre-development hydrology
  • Helps counter drought conditions by maintaining groundwater base flow
  • Eliminates thermal loadings
  • Pollutant removal through soil filtration and accelerated microbial actions
  • Achieves Low Impact Development (LID), LEED and Zero Discharge goals.

BENEFITS

  • Replicates pre-construction hydrology
  • Efficient and cost-effective
  • Easy, quick and inexpensive to install
  • Helps counter drought conditions by maintaining groundwater base flow
  • Eliminates thermal discharge loadings
  • Replenishes groundwater supplies
  • Achieves higher pollutant removal rates
  • Helps obtain up to 18 LEED points
  • Exceeds AASHTO H-20 wheel load rating by 3 times
